NEIGHBORHOOD WALKING SCORE
investment analysis preview
Walk Score will be a part of every real-estate listing in the future. The Walk Score of a home should be as important as how many bedrooms or bathrooms a property has.

LEARN ABOUT THE NEIGHBORHOOD AMENITIES WITHIN WALKING DISTANCE
The Walk Score algorithm awards points based on the distance to the closest amenity in each category. If the closest amenity in a category is within a quarter-mile, the algorithm assigns the maximum number of points. The number of points declines as the distance approaches 1 mile and no points are awarded for amenities further than 1 mile. Each category is weighted equally and the points are normalized to yield a score from 0 to 100. The number of nearby amenities is the leading indicator of whether or not people walk to local amenities such as parks, theaters, schools, and other common destinations.
Multiple independent studies have demonstrated that above-average walkability correlates to increased housing values. In the metropolitan areas that were studied, a higher Walk Score typically added between US$4,000 and $34,000 per home.
The Walk Score features a listing of establishments within walking or biking distance, such as local stores, restaurants, markets, coffee shops, etc.
